Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to our nursery website. Hylton Red House Nursery School is proud to be a maintained nursery provision within Sunderland. The nursery was built over forty years ago and is at the heart of the Redhouse community. Our parents consistently tell us how much they value us!

We have worked hard to ensure our children have the best nursery education within a safe and nurturing environment. We have been recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted since 2013. Indoors, we offer calm and caring environments where children feel secure. Outside, we offer exciting learning opportunities to children through providing stimulating, challenging and adventurous open spaces.

Supporting wellbeing and mental health is at the heart of everything we do. Our Mission is that we will nurture children's educational, social and emotional development, in order that they become independent, responsible and resilient learners. In order that children become resilient, we must ensure we have resilient staff and resilient parents.

Our staff are highly qualified, experienced and passionate about providing every child with experiences that meet their individual needs. This is achieved through supporting the whole family and building relationships so that we can work in partnership with parents. Our continued investment in training for our teachers and practitioners has resulted in a work force that are reflective and skilled in providing meaningful experiences that encourage children's curiosity and love of learning.

Our Ethos

The ethos of a setting is the set of beliefs, morals and ideas central to everything that happens within that setting.

We regularly revisit our vision and values as a whole school, reflecting upon our ethos and what makes us special. The views of our staff, governors, parents and pupils are central to what we do, and help us shape our practice.

We asked people what they think we stand for as a nursery, and what values are important to us. Each time we open consultation, the same consistent core values are agreed upon - which shows that what we do has impact.

Our Vision

"We aim to ensure everyone is inspired to achieve, enjoy and develop together. Through a safe, stimulating, child-centred environment we can build strong partnerships with families and the wider community."

Our Mission

"We will nurture children’s educational, social and emotional development, in order that they become independent, responsible and resilient learners."
